GW1 rare weapon drops: what the 2025 anniversary update changed

Update explained: 15 April 2025. Reviewed: 24 October 2026. The twentieth-anniversary update permanently expanded GW1 loot tables. These additions did not disappear when the festival ended.

Previously limited skins, now loot

The new drops use randomized stats rather than the fixed attributes of their promotional counterparts. Most are Rare quality, with named exceptions in the official list. A matching skin does not guarantee a particular requirement or bonus.

  • Across the campaigns: examples include Unicorn's Wrath, Rhino's Sloth and Ominous Aegis.
  • Tyria: examples include Bone Idol, Chimeric Prism and Ithas Bow.
  • Cantha: Dragon Fangs and Spiritbinder are examples.
  • Elona: Soulbreaker and Sunspear are listed.
  • Eye of the North regions: examples include Darksteel Longbow, Hourglass Staff and Glacial Blades.

Glacial Blade is not Glacial Blades

Glacial Blade is a sword; Glacial Blades are daggers. Our listing is for the daggers. Check weapon type and the exact listed stats rather than the artwork alone.

Miniatures and profession mods

Permanent Hard Mode quests from Merrise, Sworn to Seas in Embark Beach reward untradeable copies of selected limited miniatures. These quest rewards are distinct from original tradeable versions. The update also added permanent “of the (Profession)” weapon suffixes; those are separate from direct +5 Energy bonuses.
