Guild Wars Afterlife: new GW1 DLC in January 2027

ArenaNet and co-developer 2weeks announced Guild Wars Afterlife on 3 November 2026. The new Guild Wars 1 DLC is scheduled for 13 January 2027. The official store lists Guild Wars Reforged as a requirement and confirms that there is no monthly fee.

A new journey into the Mists

Afterlife takes players to Xotecha, a land within the Mists. Its story follows the Order of the Moonless Night as it confronts the Nightmares and the Cult of Odran. Existing characters can enter the adventure, accompanied by friends or henchmen.

Changing dungeons and skill drafting

The Unformed changes its maps, enemies and bosses between runs. After successful encounters, players draft skills from across the professions, creating combinations that can include multiple elite skills. Run-specific progression and inventory are temporary, while unlocks and rewards can carry benefits into later runs or beyond Xotecha.

What to check before returning

Check your existing account and campaign access, then review the official platform and DLC requirements. The announced release date is 13 January 2027; follow ArenaNet’s updates for any changes before launch.
